My family is perfectly imperfect!

My family is perfectly imperfect. We have patriarchs and matriarchs, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, babies and pets. Some are family by blood, some are not. This group has many shapes and colors and collectively they make the essence of who we are today. It takes generations to produce your unique essence and with each new member it continues to gain value. That’s worth archiving!

I love my family! So what can I do to save our essence?

When my children were little I would tell them stories. I noticed how they would look off while listening so they could picture the event I was describing. So begin with life stories. For members within Living Family History (LFH) a feature called the ‘Interviewer’ is provided. In this feature you are given an easy to use questionnaire to archive those stories. The questions are broken down into life categories such as: Beginnings, Neighborhood, School Days, Work, Romance & Marriage, Family Life, Health, Words of Wisdom, Life/Afterlife, and Optional Questions.

That’s great, does LFH have other options? Yes

Within the site members have the ability to create a media treasury of each loved one to be saved. This is achieved through the storage of photos, documents, audio recordings, and videos. This media treasury of family history can be passed from generation to generation to continue archiving your history as it happens or revisit special occasions as you choose.

I’ve personally found this to be valuable for reducing the painful maladies that come from losing a loved one. For instance I can listen to recordings of my mothers voice or read any documents she has produced. Of course I can view any photos I have uploaded or watch videos of her as well. The point is, I can spend time with her again and come away refreshed! Having these memories stored and easily accessible helps me to better face the days challenges! Now that’s priceless!

The site also allows you to collaborate with anyone whom you choose to build a media treasury for each loved one past or present. The social media feature within the site allows for family communications. Treat the site like your very own virtual home. And like any home you alone have the key to enter and you alone can choose whom to allow in. Also within your home there are rooms for public use as well as rooms for private use. It is important to note, there will not be any ‘data mining’ for third party use or ‘big brother’ spying, what you put in your home is yours.

The benefits of saving your families essence by archiving their life experiences will be empowering and life changing. With it your family gains a sense of worth and a strength of character to handle what the future brings. Isn’t it time you begin to save your families essence?
