A Private Social Network For Your Family: Social Media Connections Are Real! Part One

With Living Family History, you and your family can gain the ability to capture memories through online photo storage and much more. We’ve created a totally unique site that has the intention of bringing families together while cherishing the memories of those who have passed away through digital photo storage, audio storage, and beyond.

LFH was founded with the idea that families need a private space to preserve their own history, whether that includes occasional communication on the platform or you choose to really go for it, storing videos, images, documents, and audio files. Living Family History is a “members only” community with a level of privacy you won’t find on other social media platforms, meaning people who are a little shy on social media can be themselves without worrying about what their boss (or whoever it might be) will think!

Real Family Connections Through Social Media

Today’s post concerns answering a question that perhaps many of us have — is it really possible to build genuine family connections through social media?

If you are short on time, the quick answer is, yes, it is possible. For the rest of today’s post, we’ll take the opportunity to explore why the answer is a resounding yes!

Social media is a mixed bag, we think it’s pretty safe to say at this point. It seems like for every precious photo of a grandchild there are three coworkers berating each other about political issues and five articles written to get clicks rather than to spread factual information.

Most people will either quit altogether or learn to take the bad with the good. What other choice do we have, after all, than to bear the negativity so we can see what our loved ones are up to in all corners of the country?

As we’ve mentioned above, Living Family History provides families the chance to genuinely connect in a private setting. We think there is something really valuable about that, and our community members would agree!

How Social Media Connections Are Made

Brigham Young University has conducted a study which has found that teenagers who connect with family via social media platforms will feel closer to family in real life. This should be very encouraging news to those of us who are concerned about the possibility of alienating the angsty adolescents in our lives. While it might feel like an uphill battle at times, giving people of all ages the ability to connect with one another is a great way to make familial connections stronger — no matter how far apart we might be from one another!

Stay Tuned For Part Two

We feel like we’ve barely had enough time to introduce this topic, as there is so much more we want to say about it! That’s why we’ve decided to turn this single post into a two-part series on improving familial connections via social media. Be sure to keep an eye out for part two in the near future!
