The Wonder of a Light Echo!

A light echo is the reflection of light from a primary source, such as a bright star, off another object such as a dust cloud or planet in its vicinity. Light from the initial flash arrives at the viewer first, while light reflected from dust or other objects between the source and the viewer begins to arrive shortly afterward with a delay relative to the distance.

Have you ever had a noise reflect back at you? A light echo acts in the same manner as a auditory echo. Astronomers have used this principle to see evidence of stars as they explode. Don’t you love how deductions can be formed and precise math can be determined by common everyday phenomena?
